Gaslighting Us With The Fake Christian Narrative
Trump supporters are fake Christians? No.
When you say that the Christian voters who elected Christian Donald Trump to impose Christian Nationalism on America are somehow magically not real Christians, but are fake Christians, you are gaslighting.
Gaslighting is what happens when a person attempts to convince someone who’s being abused that they are just imagining it, that they are misperceiving what’s going on. When people claim that real abuse at the hands of Christians is not real, that it’s being done by fake Christians, it’s gaslighting.
Knock it off. Trump and MAGA voters are real Christians. That's the problem. Let's deal with it.
Christian Americans are more than twice as likely to be fascist Trump supporters as other Americans. There is something in American Christianity that is leading Christians to become fascists. Denying that problem exists doesn't help. It makes the problem worse.
The alternative to gaslighting is to acknowledge the truth of what’s happening, to admit to the problem.
If Christians could admit that their religion is causing suffering under the Christian Nationalism of Donald Trump, that would be the first step to making things better.
