Stickers of the Cruelty of Jesus
The apparent conflict between the compassion preached by Jesus in the Gospels and the rampant cruelty of Christian Nationalists is a product of the selective reading of the New Testament. When the complete story of Jesus is taken into account, the narrative of Christianity as practiced is reconciled with the Bible.
Jesus started out preaching nonviolence, but by the end of the Bible, Jesus was declaring his plans to torture and kill his enemies, not to turn the other cheek. The New Testament can be read as the story of how Jesus became an angry, megalomaniacal cult leader determined to use fear and violence to gain power for himself. Of course, this is also the story of the religion of Christianity, which began as a countercultural underdog but then took over the Roman Empire, and used its military resources to expand the cult of Jesus far and wide.
The IrregularGoods collection on Redbubble has a new section of sticker designs that feature visual depictions of this vivid cruelty of Jesus.
