What One Nation Under God Really Means
Donald Trump tells us we must submit to One Nation Under God. Behind him, the Christian God steps on Uncle Sam after shoving him roughly to the ground.
One Nation Under God means religious tyranny.
When Donald Trump and his Christian Nationalist fascists say that they are restoring “One nation under God”, what they mean is that they intend to use the power of the US federal government to force everybody to live under Christian dominion, doing only what Christian preachers and Christian politicians say they can do.
One Nation Under God means a Christian totalitarian government that crushes liberty under its heel in the name of the Christian god.
One Nation Under God means Christian rulers standing on your back, holding you down.
To live in One Nation Under God is to live in servitude to Christian preachers and politicians.
In a democracy, power rests with the people, not with spirits or ghosts or gods or other monsters.
One Nation Under God means absolute power for those who claim to speak for God.
Politicians who campaign for One Nation Under God are only seeking power for themselves.
Before there was the United States, Christian governments ruled the American colonies. It was against the law to be absent from church on Sunday morning. Men and women were killed under absurd accusations of witchcraft.
The Constitution of the United States was written to ensure that this theocratic tyranny could never oppress Americans again. Now, with the slogan One Nation Under God, Christian Nationalists are trying to drag the USA back into the darkness of religious rule.
One Nation Under God is a slogan of obedience.
What the Christian Nationalists want more than anything else is for you to believe that you no longer have the right to object to what your social superiors tell you to do.
One Nation Under God is a nation under despots and oligarchs, priests and politicians who all believe that they should have the power to tell you how to live.
They want One Nation Under God, because they find democracy to be insolent.
Who wants a god pushing them down all the time?
The problem with One Nation Under God is right there in the word UNDER. When you’ve got a government that’s focused on serving a god instead of helping people, it keeps people down. It pushes the whole country down.
Christian Nationalists want America on its hands and knees, groveling, begging, struggling just to bear the weight of the Christian hierarchy of power.
Stand up, America. Let’s get over One Nation Under God.
