Christian Nationalism Isn’t Christian?
People like to say that Christian Nationalism is not “real Christianity”.
The thing is: Christian Nationalism is based on Christian texts and Christian teachings. It’s spread by Christian churches and Christian politicians.
Christian Nationalism uses Christian privilege to give Christian leaders power to tell non-Christians how to live.
So, Christian Nationalism sure looks like Christianity to me.
It sure as hell isn’t Buddhism.
That doesn’t mean that Christian Nationalism is nice and lovely.
It means that there’s something in Christianity that is attractive to and attracted to fascism.
It’s no accident that the majority of American Christians have embraced the fascist movement of Donald Trump.
Instead of denying this association between Christianity and the politics of sadism, we should look at the problem honestly, and confront its implications.
